  2. Ben Cohen • Ben’s 1st contact with ice cream came senior year when he worked as an ice cream man • Held various low income jobs (McD’s , night mopper) • Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1951 • Went to school in Long Island and met his partner in junior high

  3. born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1951 • a National Merit Scholarship high school graduate. • enrolled in Oberlin College in Ohio to study pre-med. • took a job as a scooper in the college cafeteria • made all the ice cream for the busy shop, Jerry Greenfield

Stepping Stones • In 1978 with a $ 12,000 investment ($4,000 of it borrowed), Ben and Jerry open their scoop shop • Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream quickly became well known for its rich, unusual flavors and community approach to business. • In 1987 he even wrote a book with Jerry called “Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book
