  1. G.C. Burkhead Elementary The STLP Mission for our school is to advance the individual knowledge of students; to motivate all students; and to create leadership roles through the use of technology.

  2. How do Students join STLP? Goal 2 STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students All students grades 3 – 5 are invited to be a part of STLP at the beginning of each school year. Through regular activities, students are exposed to various uses of technology such as: computer maintenance, video production, and use of various computer programs.

  5. Publicizing our Accomplishents G. C. Burkhead shares our STLP accomplishments through our school newsletters, our local newspaper, on HCETV, through our school and district website. Here is an example of 5th grade students completing a project for GCB staff. They made notepads for all staff using laptops in our laptop lab.

Current GCB STLP Projects • GCB Morning Newscast • Yearbook (this is a very involved project, taking the entire school year) • Notepads created in Word for teacher gifts • Holiday labels (for teacher notepads) • PR- Showing off our school • Turning on/off computers • Computer cleaning • Photographing school/club events • Creating the video of various activities around the school using the FLIP camera

  7. GCB School News Broadcasts Goal 1 The STLP will develop activities which enhance the academic, social and emotional growth of the student. Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. The GCB Morning News team produces a live news broadcast for the school each morning. STLP members serving on the news crew arrive at school 15 minutes early to work on the daily broadcast. News is presented for our school as well as announcements of high school and community activities. The crew consists of 5th grade students.

  8. Goal 3Students will participate in multi-age collaboration by forming innivative learning partnerships.Goal 4The STLP will form learning partnerships among students with different technology skills.

  9. Goal 5The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities The GCB Morning News broadcasts provides a forum for communities events ranging from performances at the PAC, to community wide events such as fund raisers, and sports try-outs.

  11. Ways That We Promote Our School Goal 2 The STLP will provide leadership opportunities for all students. Goal 5 The STLP will develop activities which benefit communities. STLP students are given the opportunity to show off our school by taking pictures of special events and activities at our school. The pictures and articles are often posted on the “Good News” page on the Hardin County School District web site. This gives the community and other students the opportunity to enjoy the happenings at G.C. Burkhead.

  12. Student Participation at Local, District, and State Level • G.C. Burkhead students are scheduled to participate in a district showcase in the Spring. • G. C. Burkhead students have participated in the Regional Showcase at WKU in the past. • G. C. Burkhead STLP reached GOLD Status in 2005.
