  1. Implementation status of the CTTC in-service performance monitoring system and GMPLS UNI/E-NNI Carolina Pinart - CTTC NOBEL Meeting, 13-15 June 2005

  2. Overview of the architecture • GMPLS UNI and E-NNI* in the testbed (OCCs) and emulated networks/clients • Elements of the performance monitoring system • Monitoring points (NMI-A, NMI-T) • Gatherers (with sensors – SNMP, TL1, …) • Event manager (LinkStatus, SLAVerify) Control Plane Data Communications Network UNI / E-NN I / I-NNI Monitoring point IP metrics OCC Event manager Gatherer Generator/collector IP probe packets I-NNI NMI-A Gatherer IP CCI Management Plane Optical Transport Network NMI-T Monitoring point OPM-L2 OXC/OADM Emulated OXC/OADM OADM Broadband Tester OADM Transport Plane Monitoring point OPM-L1/L2 Optical Node Real OXC/OADM * = Implementation status and preliminary results presented in the Signalling TF session

  3. IPMeter (ping) @ each node BERTester • IP metrics • round-trip delay • packet loss < From the list of parameters suggested in [KIL04] • In-band OSNR • BER • PMD (DGD) • Accumulated CD No dispersion meter in the CTTC testbed* • Channel • Power • Wavelength drift • OSNR • WDM fiber • Aggregate power Monitoring points OPM – Layer 3 Protocol (Protocol performance) OPM – Layer 2 Signal quality (Channel quality) OPM – Layer 1 Transport monitoring (WDM channel management) [KIL04] D. C. Kilper, et al,”Optical Performance Monitoring”, in IEEE Journal of Lightwave Technology, Vol. 22 (1), pp. 294 – 304. * = Planned upgrade in 2006

  6. Work 2nd half 2005 • Performance monitoring system • OPMLRM interface • Thresholds for EM_LinkUpdate and EM_SLAVerify • Sensor for BERTester • UNI/E-NNI according to the IETF already implemented. Future use in WP8 experiments to be reported at the end of the project. 5 OPM LRM RC CC 1 2 4 3 TE-LSDB Control Plane
