  1. Consider These Factors to Create A Better Sleepaway Experience for Your Little Camper

  2. Choosing the right summer camp for your children can be pretty much daunting and overwhelming. However, if you yourself have experienced a day or a week at a camp during your childhood days, then we assume you understand the importance of sending children to summer camps.

  3. Thousands of amazing memories, new friendships and lots of learnings; pretty much sums up what camps are all about. Even though you realize that summer camps are a great learning and fun opportunity for your child, as parents you may feel a bit of anxiety.

  4. And, if it is your child’s first time, your mind will certainly be bombarded with varied questions like, Is my kid ready to leave their home for a week? Will he/she be OK with other kids? How do I even find the right camp for them? Should I visit the camp before sending my child there? And so on…But proper planning can help you and your kid to prepare for the sleepaway camp.

  5. While at camps, your kid will be responsible for their own stuff. So, it becomes important for them to know what things they are bringing to the camp with them. Teach them how to pack everything nicely, so they don’t find it difficult when repacking at camp.

  6. You will not be there to stop them from playing in the dirt. You never know, how many worms they dig up or how many times they roll down from the hill to get their clothes loaded with dirt. So, make sure you always pack extra clothes for them.

  7. Going to a new place, meeting new people can make anyone nervous. The fear of the unknown is often the biggest part of pre-camp jitters, for both the parents as well as the kid. However, gathering as much information about the camp as possible beforehand and communicating it with your child can put things at ease.

  8. Talk to your child about the camp, what it will be like to meet new people. Explain the activities, sleeping arrangements and friends your kid will be meeting at the camp. In short, telling your child about things in advance will make sure they don’t feel clueless when they practically experience those things at the sleepaway camp.

  9. Nothing could be better than seeing your child becoming independent at any early age. Sleepaway camp is one of those experiences where your child will learn to do things without your help. At camp, they have to take care of their things on their own. So, tell them how to make bed, fix their hair, handle toiletries, clean up themselves as they will need to do all of it by themselves when sleeping away from home.

  10. If your kid is going for a week or two, it is a good idea for you to send letters or surprise packages that can brighten up their day. Just make sure to follow the camp rules as many sleepaway camps have restrictions on things that can be and can’t be kept on the campgrounds. Besides, while your child is going to have the best time of their life there, you too can enjoy your “me time” at your house or by hanging out with your old friends.

  11. Sleepaway camp provides your child opportunities to learn new things and create new bonds. It’s an experience that helps them to grow as an individual. So, enroll your child to the best summer camp in Greenville with activities that suit your child’s interests.
