Salat is the pillar of the religion. Muslims perform Salat because it is ordered in the Qur'an and described in Hadith. This article explores the significance of Salat, its obligations, and the preparation conditions that must be observed before prayer.

  1. SALAT ISLAM 101

  2. SALAT  is the pillar of the religion. He who leaves it has demolished his religion. Hadith

  3. Why Muslims perform? Because SALAT is ordered in Qur’an and described in Hadith. Be ever mindful of prayers, and of praying in the most excellent way; and stand before God in devout obedience.Qur'an 2:238 And before God prostrate themselves, willingly or unwillingly, all things and beings that are in the heavens and the earth, as do their shadows in the mornings and the evenings.Qur'an 13:15

  4. Every creature in the universe worship Allah c.c. through their tongues of disposition even if we do not understand them. Trees Birds Flowers and others…

  5. Our main worship is through SALAT.

(The religion of) Islam is based on 5. • (five pillars): • to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace be upon him)  is His Servant and Messenger; • to establish the prescribed prayers; • to pay the obligatory Zakah; • to make Hajj (pilgrimage); and • to observe Fasting throughout • the month of Ramadan.’ • (Hadith: Recorded by Al-Bukhary and Muslim) 

  7. SALAT becomes FARD (obligation) for who is • * Muslim • * Sane • * Reached the age of Maturity • right after firs wet dream for boys • right after first period for girls

  8. SALAT is remembrance of Allah c.c. SALAT is a prayer and supplication Prayer comforts the soul and the mind and is easy for the body.

  9. The passport to Eternity comprises the five daily prayers, observing the other obligations, and avoiding the major sins.

  10. We have been given 24 hours for a day. If we spend 23 hours a day in worldly affairs and do not reserve the remaining hour for the prescribed prayers, we are a foolish loser. 1 out of 24 gold pieces?

  11. Daily 5 times prayers, incluing wudu take our 1 hour.

  12. Those prayers might be our ticket to paradise.

  16. PREPERATION CONDITIONS THAT MUST BE OBSERVED BEFORE PRAYER.

  17. TAHARAH FROM HADATH (Cleanliness of body) • To pray we have to be clean from Filth and Impurities  “Cleanliness is the half of the faith” “Cleanliness is the key to prayers.” Without cleanliness, a prayer is not accepted.

  18. WUDU (Ablution) Since SALAT is to worship our Lord coming before Him, All our body and clothes must be clean as well as our hearth.

  19. 2. TAHARAH FROM NAJASAT cleanliness of body, dress and place. Najasa refers to impure substances that Muslims must avoid and wash off after coming into contact with them. God says: Purify your raiment (dress) (74:4) God loves those who repent and who purify themselves (2:222).

  20. 3. SATRI AVRAT Covering the area of the body Covering the area of the body that cannot be shown in public. For the men, this is from the knee to the navel; For women, the whole body except the face, hands, and feet.

  26. 6. NIYYAH ( Intention) Make the intention to perform a specific prayer “Actions are judged according to intentions. One is rewarded for whatever one intends to do. Whoever emigrates for God and His Messenger has emigrated for God and His Messenger; whoever emigrates to acquire something worldly or to marry has emigrated for what is intended.” (Bukhari, “Bed’ul-Wahy,” 1; Muslim, “Iman,” 155 )

Recitations Starting Takbeer (“Allahu Ekber” - “The God is The Greatest”) Standing (Reciting Prayers, then “Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem” - “In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful” Fatiha and other Suras from Qur’an) Bowing (“Subhanna rabbiyal 'Azeem” - “Holy is my Lord, the Magnificent”) Raising (“Sami' allaahu liman hamidah” – “Allah listens to him who praises Him” ) Prostration (“Subhaana rabbiyal 'Alaa” - “Glory to my Lord, the Most High”) The Last Sitting (At-Tasahhud and Salawat) Salaam (“As Salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatulaah” – “Peace and blessings of God be upon you”)

  30. Sample Prayer for 2 Rakat Starting Takbeer (“Allahu Ekber”) “The God is The Greatest”

  31.  "Subhana Kalla Humma Wa Bee Hamdika Wata Baara Kasmooka Wa Ta'ala Jaddoo Ka Wa La ilaha Ghairuka"  Wait a little.  "Aaoo Zoo Billahee Minash Shaitaunir Rajeem"  Wait a little. "Bismillah Hir Rahmaanir Raheem"  Wait a little. Then read Soorah Fatiha, "Alhamdo Lillahi Rabbil Aalameen Ar Rahmaanir Raheem Maaliki Yaomid Deen iyya Kana Budoo Wa iyya kanastaeen ihdinas Siratual Mustaqeem Siratual Lazeena An Amtaa Alaihim Ghairil Maghdoobe Alaihim Walad Dualleen" Wait a little. “Amen” Then read any surrah from Quran or at least three Ayats. We are writing you a small one. Read this Surrah, " Wal A'sre Innal Insaana Lafi Khusr illal Lazeena Aamanoo Wa A'milos Sualihaati Wa Tawa Sao Bil Haqqi Wa Tawa Sao Bis Sabr " Wait a little.

  32. Then Say "Allah Hoo Akbar" and bow (its called Ruku), hold your knees with your hands.  Recite, "Subhaana Rabbiyal Azeem" At least 3 times. Three, five and seven times are Sunna. Then start to stand up saying, "Samee Allahoo Layman Hamidah - Rabbana Lakal Hamd" Start to say Samee when leaving Rookh (bowing poster) and end with Hameedah when you are fully erect. Wait a little. Now say, "Allah Hoo Akbar" Now go to Sajdah

  33. Sajdah Read, "Subhaana Rabbiyal Aala" at least three times. Three, five and seven times are Sunnat. Wait a little. Now sit down on your left foot (It's called Jalsa) the right foot should be sticking out and all of the foot fingers should be twisted.

  34.  Now go back to sajdah and perform as you did before Jalsa. After completing second sajdah get up and go back to Qayam (standing up) Saying "Allah Hoo Akbar" Then read , "Bismillahir Rahamaanir Raheem" Wait a little

Then read Soorah Fatiha, "Alhamdo Lillahi Rabbil Aalameen Ar Rahmaanir Raheem Maaliki Yaomid Deen iyya Kana Budoo Wa iyya kanastaeen ihdinas Siratual Mustaqeem Siratual Lazeena An Amtaa Alaihim Ghairil Maghdoobe Alaihim Walad Dualleen" Wait a little. “Amen” Then read any surrah from Quran or at least three Ayats. We are writing you a small one. Soorah Al kausar,"Innaa Aataina Kal Kauser Fasalli Li Rabbi Ka Vanhar Inna Shaaniaka Hooal Abtar".Wait a little.

  36. Then Say "Allah Hoo Akbar" and bow (its called Ruku), hold your knees with your hands.  Recite, "Subhaana Rabbiyal Azeem" At least 3 times. Three, five and seven times are Sunna.   39. This time after second Sajdah do not go back to Qayam (standing up) but go back to Jalsa (sitting) but now it's called Qaidah. Now read, "Atthayyato Lillahe Wassalawato Wat Tayyebato Assalamu Alaika Ayyohan Nabiyo Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatoh Assalamu Alaina Wa Ala ibadillahis Sualaiheen Ashadu An La ilaah illal Laho Wa Ashadu Anna Mohammadan Abdohoo Wa Rasooluhoo"

  40. Read this "Allah Humma Salle Ala Mohammadiyon Wa Ala Ale Mohammadin Kama Sallaita Aala ibraheema Wa Ala Aalay ibraheema inna Ka Hameedum Majeed. Allah Humma Baarik Aala Mohammadiyon Wa Ala Ale Mohammadin Kama Barakta Ala ibraheema Wa Ala Ale ibraheema inna Ka Hameedum Majeed." Wait a little. After read this dua, "Allah Humma Rabbana Aatina Fid Dunya Hasanah Wa Fil Akhirate Hasanah Wa Qina Azaban Naar." Wait a little. Now turn your head towards right and say, "Assalamo Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah" Now turn your head towards left and read the same as above, "Assalamo Alaikum Wa Rehmatullah" Salat is complete now.

  41. Discussion What Muslims think when they are performing SALAT?  What can you (not) do during SALAT? Why is it an obligation? Did any non-Muslim try it? Don’t Muslims get bored with SALAT? What kind of prayers (worships) do other religions have? Where would you turn in Ka’ba?
