A long time ago there was a very poor boy named Carlo who lived with his parents in a small house. One day, his mom told Carlo to sell the family horse at the market. He hated the horse so he was happy he was going to get rid of it. So he went to sell the horse. When he got to the market he was told they would give him thirty dollars and he was very happy.
On his way home he saw a bucket of magic water so he picked the water up. Carlo found a weed and decided to pour some water on it. After he did this, the weed grew and grew until it was up to the clouds. Carlo was very amazed and he wondered what was up there.
So he climbed the very tall weed and when he got to the top he found a town. He saw many stores and houses but many of them were wrecked. He then saw people who must have lived in the town but they were only about four inches tall! He saw a boy who came over to talk to Carlo and said, "Welcome to Littletown, my name is…”
The boy’s voice was interrupted with a scream. The boy then said, “You’re a huge, giant person!” Then the boy looked to the other little people and screamed, “Run!” Carlo replied, “Its okay, I’m not going to hurt you.” “Whew, just don’t stomp on any houses okay? Welcome to Littletown, my name is Dan,” said the tiny boy. “Why is the whole town wrecked,” asked Carlo. “The giant of Littletown has destroyed most of the town and some of us have nowhere to live. I will be happy to give you a tour of Littletown,”said Dan. “Okay,” said Carlo.
As they walked around the town, Carlo shared some things about himself with Dan. “My family is poor,” Carlo told Dan. “I know a place where you can get food,” said Dan. “You do?” asked Carlo. “Follow me,” Dan said.
They started walking for a long while when they grew very tired. Finally they stopped at a big house. “The man that lives here is the giant of Littletown! He is mean and grouchy, so we are going to have to be very quiet,” said Dan. “But I don’t want to steel his food,” said Carlo. “But this is the only way to get the food that we need to survive. Besides, the giant gets this food from stealing it from the people of Littletown,” said Dan. “Well why don’t we work together to get the food for me,” Carlo said.“Well, okay,” said Dan.
So Dan quietly opened the door, ran inside, opened a low cabinet, and grabbed a loaf of bread, a little bottle of water and an apple that fell on the floor.
Dan gathered the food as quickly as he could and then he felt something grabbing him! When he looked behind him there was the giant man! The giant man took Dan to a room. When Carlo saw that Dan was gone, he ran inside. When he got to the room where Dan was being held he kicked the door open and the door fell down. The giant man got very angry, but Carlo had a plan. Carlo stuck his foot out and the giant fell down. Carlo grabbed Dan and he ran with Dan in his pocket out of the giant’s house.
Carlo ran as fast as he could until he saw the weed. The giant was still behind them. Carlo had an idea to stop the giant from terrorizing the Littletown people forever! He stuck out his foot and the giant tripped over it. The giant fell all the way down to the ground. “The giant is dead!” everyone cheered.
“Well I guess this means it’s time to say goodbye,” said Carlo. “Bye, Carlo and thank you for helping us,” said Dan. Carlo thanked Dan for the food and climbed down the weed. When he reached the bottom, he chopped down the weed and Carlo and his mom lived happily ever after.
