  1. Croquet Psychomotor Assessment “The Shot”

  2. The Purpose • The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate the student’s ability to successfully perform the basic stroke in a croquet match using to proper criteria.

  3. Equipment • 1 Mallet • 1 Ball • 2 cones or 1 hoop • Actual Class: • 13 Mallets • 13 Balls • 13 Hoops

  4. How it is done • Students are given two practice strokes and then a final stroke that is assessed to correctly perform the shot. • Criteria of Process: • Back Swing Height • Contact Point of mallet on ball • Follow through Height • Criteria of Product: • Ball goes through the hoop

Scoring Criteria • If the swing back is below the waist they get a yes and get 5 points and if it is not then they get a No and gain 1 point • If the follow through is below the waist they get a Yes and gain 5 points and if the follow through is above the waist they get a No and gain 1 point • If the contact is solid with the head of the mallet then they gain 5 points, if the contact is made with the head of the mallet but goes off to the side or barely touches it then they gain 3 points, and if the ball is struck with the side of the mallet or misses completely they gain 1 point. • If the ball goes through the hoop completely they gain 5 points, if it stops part of the way through then they gain 3 points, and if it doesn’t go through then they gain 1 point.

  10. Test Issues • May have been a little simple so my scores are all 100 • I think for younger kids it may be more challenging because of the lack of skill

  11. Changes to test for the future • Have different distances to assess from to add difficulty. • To change the angle of the shot as well. Have the shot from different angles and distances.
