MISSION • To serve as a consumer protection agency • Protect the individual student • Promote accountability at the independent postsecondary level • To protect the integrity of these institutions by assuring that certain standards are met • To encourage independent institutions to offer programs that meet the needs of Florida’s citizens

  4. DISTINCTIONS CIE is fully supported by fees collected from licensed institutions (no General Revenue) Licensed institutions receive no state subsidy Independent institutions respond quickly to business and industry training needs

SOME INSTITUTIONAL FACTS • Over 900 licensed institutions • 369 degree institutions (88% accredited) • 552 non-degree schools (26% accredited) • Current enrollment of over 350,000 students • Approximately 8,000 licensed programs • Over 140 institutions participate in Workforce Development as training providers
