  2. What is a CLIPPING MASK? • A mask visually crops or hides part of an object.

  3. How do I make a CLIPPING MASK? Select the object to mask and the object to be masked. Right-click and choose MAKE CLIPPING MASK To adjust the composition, double-click to enter ISOLATION MODE. Click to transform either piece to alter the positioning. Hit ESC to exit isolation mode.

  5. Rules of CLIPPING MASKs • A mask can be any shaped vector. • The mask object must be on top in the stacking order. • The masked or cropped object can be a vector OR image.

  6. How do I use a mask to compose my portrait? Create a rectangular shape to match your artboard size. Select both the rectangle and image. Choose create clipping mask. You will no longer see the parts of the image in the pasteboard.
