UCLA Health Innovation ChallengeTwo tracks geared towards medtech/data Provide faculty, staff, trainees, patients, caregivers, volunteers, and UCLA students, the opportunity to help advance long-lasting health and wellness solutions. 1. Medical Technology/Digital Health: Interdisciplinary teams can submit an early-stage MedTech or digital health idea, design or prototype that solves a clinical or patient care need. Winners receive $2,500, $5,000, $10,000, or $25K-100K in seed funding 2. IT Support for Care Efficiency: Suggest an IT solution/improvement that will enhance care delivery, accuracy, efficiency and/or operations. Winners receive a personalized IT upgrade such as a custom CareConnect feature. Eligibility: UCLA Health staff and faculty

UCLA Health Innovation ChallengeSubmission Examples • 3 Wishes Project • Seeking VR equipment to help with end of life patient experiences • IV Alert • Using existing IV technology, incorporate a wifi enabled device to transmit a message to the nurses station regarding an IV beeping - either for occlusion, or ending a treatment • Radio frequency ID bands for patients admitted to RRMC • Improve tracking, bed assignment, through-put information and help security when used to track visitors • Decision Aids to Promote Vaccine Uptake in Primary Care Clinics • Using data from the CDC, applicant assembled a series of decision aids that are intended to help patients make informed choices about vaccines • Wireless display of vital signs during critical care transport • Expand wireless monitoring into external transports units using mobile app; Displaying data either by a wireless display (monitor display) that is mounted in the transport vehicle or a portable device (such as iPad or even smart phones) • Finger print scan log in or facial recognition • Finger scan or facial recognition master log in; logs an employee in to all software's, programs and email accounts (saves time with multiple log ins)

UCLA Health System InitiativesApple Health App for Patients UCLA Health takes an innovative approach by encouraging patients to stay more engaged and informed with their medical care Health Records on iPhones are now available to UCLA Health patients • Brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers • Patients will have medical information from participating institutions organized into one view • Covers allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals, and will receive notifications when their data is updated • Health record data is encrypted with user’s iPhone passcode, touch ID or face ID
