PPS Access point BA80 replacement done • PAD/MAD installed 3 weeks ago • Tuesday 10th: functional test by BE-ICS. • From Wednesday 11th September: “en service” • Team moves to next installation in BA81 • Ongoing: instrumentation of the doors YDPS02.80o, YDPS01.800, YDPV01.800, YDPV02.800 • Remaining work: • March - April 2020 :EIS instrumentation & Test (accessoccasionallyperturbated) F.   3. PPS Access point BA81 replacement ongoing • Activity for replacement started on September 11th • Mechanical parts almost done • This week and next week: connection to electrical and communication networks. • Tests and validation: 7-11th October • Expected “en service” on October 14th • Aug- Sept 2020 :EIS instrumentation & Test (accessoccasionallyperturbated) F.   4. Access point SPS-PPS TCC8 & lift • Replacement of the access point bldg. 912 • Replacement of the lift AS516 • Co-activities organized – No conflict expected • W43 [21-25 October]: removal of actual PAD (turnstile) • W44 – 47: removal of the old lift, extraction of big pieces, install. new lift • W48: installation of the new PAD/MAD • From W49: adaptation to punctual necessities between teams (EN-HE/BE-ICS) • Sept – Oct. 2020 :EIS instrumentation & Test (accessoccasionallyperturbated) F.   5. ECN3: renovation activities starting soon • SPS PSS access point in bldg. 911 • Actual BE-ICS planning indicates work during [mid-October / mid-November] • EN-HE rails replacement for the crane in ECN3 [21/10 – 01/11]. • Time slot confirmed long time ago. • Use of the pit/crane to transfer long rails • -> Safety issue since access point and pit are close to each other • BE-ICS is revising its time slot to adapt the intervention.   6. Crane consolidation in 888 (EHN2) • August 12-21: old 5t crane removed, new 10t crane installed • Work on the 40t crane started 4 weeks ago, should last until end of September. Load test (40 t) September 19th F. Gautheron et al. - EACM September 24th, 2019

  7. TA 852 ventilation door (TCC8) - Air tightness • Aluminum sheets fixed on the door 2 weeks ago • Passage of pipes through the fence to be closed • Cables trays not yet closed since an optical fiber has still to be pulled, foreseen by EN/EL week 42 • Access restricted w43 – w52 • Replacement of the access point SPS-PPS • Replacement of the local lift • Air tightness work on cable trays and around pipes to be terminated beginning of 2020 F. No further free access to galleries post LS2 Recommendations from the safety review & DSO for ODH & CO2 risks • All gallery access to be locked • EHN1 already done • EHN2 ongoing • Caged ladder (Saleve side) to be locked • Jura side fenced and locked (by end of 2019) • Saleve side access through BA82 • Procedure put in place: IMPACT -> TRAKA (EHN1) -> key + ODH &CO2 portable detectors F. Gas Network Consolidation More info in the David’s talk • Only EHN1 Saleve side during LS2 due to budget cuts • Reduction of the number of mixing areas : 2 • One mixing area already modified, new rack under design, waiting for the instruction (TSO) for the second mixing area. • All gas patch panels already produced, half of them in placed in PPE’s but not connected • 887/R-K52 (PPE 146), 887/R-P40 (PPE 138), 887/R-P58 (PPE 158), 887/R-L75 (PPE 168) • Racks produced & to be transported 887/R-K56 (PPE 156) & R-M84 (H8 beam dump area) • Gas barrack 907: waiting for a final offer for racks. • Check valves (EATM request): to equip all the distribution racks (EHN1, EHN2, ECN3) • Might require 2 -3 weeks of service interruption (looking for a possibility of sectorization instead) • Flowmeters to monitor networks, installation foreseen this year • ATEX extraction bldg. 907 during LS2. Bldg. 909 postponed after LS2 F. Gautheron et al. - EACM September 24th, 2019

Flammable Gas Detection & ODH • EHN1– Saleve side (Jura side already migrated & operational) • Barrack gas 907 already equipped (no flammable gas actually in use) • ODH in Galleries (GHN 14,15,16) with previous sensors (No CO2 detection) • FG sensors to be installed once new gas distribution in place (1st semester 2020) • Mixing gas areas • Experimental areas • PPE168 pending – area to be reorganized, no further news. • Cabling once EN-EL manpower available, ~September 2020 • Commissioning will follow • Old system deactivated, but racks not yet removed • EHN2, ECN3 • EHN2 : 2020: BE-ICS OK, budget available (optical fiber ordered by EN-EL-FC) • ECN3 : to be migrated to Syntel system – 2020. Cooling & Ventilation - EN-CV • Consolidation of control towers CT2: • Electrical consolidation ongoing (foreseen by the end 2019) • Control system replaced in 2020 (delivery foreseen beginning of April 2020) • Underground technical galleries ventilation study ongoing • Safety review “Install a ventilation system in the gallery in order to avoid local accumulation of gas” • Ongoing study of cooling in BAs for the PSU of Beam lines magnets • Option with H2O cooling for SIRIUS PSU • Option with Air cooling for APOLO PSU F. Radioprotection HSE-RP • CROME deployment in NA • March 2020 : TDC2 (9 monitors) • Avril 2020 : TCC2 (13 monitors) • May/June2020 : EHN1 (46 monitors) • Beginning of August 2020 : TT84/TT85 (2 monitors) • End of August 2020 : EHN2 : (4 monitors) • Commissioning : August to December 2020 • RP tests: October 2020 to February 2021 • Access control to transversal underground galleries (EHN1 & EHN2) • Generalize fences in EHN1 (2/6 actually) all with padlocks (keys in CCC) • EHN2: Dose rate exceeds limits on Jura side (RP survey 2018) : “close gallery GHN21 in addition to GHN22 with EN/EA padlock to prevent access to Jura side” • Access through IMPACT -> TRAKA (in EHN1). Power converters – TE-EPC • Ongoing studies for new PSU (SIRIUS vs APOLO) for beam line magnets • DCCT + FGC3 ordered for VERTEX 1,2 and ATLAS-Morpurgo (EHN1) • Components to be integrated in the new PSUs during LS2 – Lab work • PSU installation foreseen in 2021 (YETS 2021/2022) F. Beam Instrumentation (EN-EA & BE-BI) • Renovation of 26 VME crates + extender interfaces in EHN1 needed for compatibility with BE-CO control systems > LS2 => concerns all beam instrumentation signals => material ordered / consolidation ongoing • Foreseen for LS2 – urgent needs: • 10 XCET (gas panels, gas control system, windows, vacuum pipes), • 5 CEDAR (obsolete gas control system), • 40 XSCI (voltage dividers) • 1 Longitudinal spill detector (new electronics) • Foreseen in 2020: cabling for BLMs, BTVs, vacuum,..   16.
