  2. Definition • Moral panics are things that have been exaggerated by the media, usually things that have happened in society like the mods and rockers and even the recent riots. These stories are used to create moral panics and cause society to become weary of certain things, in this example young people.

  3. Examples • We are losing war on drugs- This story is about how certain policies the government have introduced haven't been able to win the war on drugs- this can become a moral panic as parents become more weary for there kids and them being introduced to or having contact with drugs. • World and society to blame for girls rape- this is a story about a 14 year old babysitter who raped a 5 year old, the boy himself got let of as the judge said that he had been warped by pornography and todays society- this can become a moral panic as parents start to worry about there kids becoming warped and there worry about babysitters and there small children becoming victims. • Cam cuts will force NHS to axe free treatments- This is a story on David Cameron and his choice to cut some funding from the NHS meaning they may need to stop free treatments- this can create a moral panic as some people struggle to pay the bills and may not be able to afford certain types of treatment due to the recession.
