Chess. By Kezia Farley. What is chess. Chess is a board game that is played between two people which is played on a chess board. A chess board consists of 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. The objective of the game is to put your opponent's King in check.

  2. What is chess • Chess is a board game that is played between two people which is played on a chess board. • A chess board consists of 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. • The objective of the game is to put your opponent's King in check

Pieces movement in a chess game • King- (1 is given in the beginning of the game) Can move like any piece expect a knight, can only move one space per turn unless castling • Queen- (1 is given in the beginning of the game) Like a King it can move like any piece expect as a knight, but the different is the a queen can move more than one space at a time • Knight- (2 is given in the beginning of the game) Moves in a L shape (moves 2 spaces up and turns one) this is a sneaky piece that can only be used properly when planned out properly

Pieces movement continued… • Bishops- (2 is given in the beginning of the game) The bishop also has no restrictions in distance for each move but it can only move diagonally movement. • Rooks- (2 is given in the beginning of the game) The castle shaped piece, like the bishop and queen, has no restrictions in distance but it can only move horizontally and vertically • Pawns- (8 is given in the beginning of the game) Pawns are unusual in movement and use, but unlike all the other pieces, pawns may not move backwards. That attack diagonally and keeps moving forward. When you reach the opponent’s side you may change your pawn into a different piece expect another king.

  5. What is castling in chess? • Castling is a special move in the game of chess involving the king and either of the original rooks of the same color. • This move consists of moving the king two squares towards a rook, then moving the rook onto the square over which the king crossed.
