  7. Cell Phones • At Austin High we focus on our education and future. Cell phones distract from that mission. • Place your cell phone in the cell phone caddy holder in the classroom as your enter each period. • Allowed in the halls during the passing periods or lunch ONLY. • No phone use during a hall pass. • Violations turned over to second floor office will result in a $15 fee.

  8. Bullying/Harassment AHS has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying or harassment, including on social media. Report all incidents to your AP, any counslor, or a trusted adult.

  9. Pep Rallies! • Your opportunity to come support your fellow Maroons, show your spirit, and be LOUD! • Keep it classy! Keep it safe! • Held at the beginningof 2ndor 6thperiod. Belongings are left in the class, then you return at end of rally. • Let’s stay respectful to all our fellow Maroons and keep competitions friendly. • If pep rallies are not your thing, you may stay in the classroom (or one near you).

  10. Clear Bag Policy New this year, athletic events held at House Park, Nelson Field, and Burger Stadium will only allow very small handbags and clear backpacks inside.

  11. Extras • Only seniorswith student ID are allowed off campus during lunch. Have your senior ID in hand to expedite leaving at lunch. • Skateboards are allowed for transportation to school only. “No wheels on the ground”. • Bus riding is a privilege-not a right. Misconduct and mistreatment of bus drivers will result in loss of privilege to ride the bus.Check the east side entrance windows to find your bus number. • For your safety and to allow buses to line up quickly, do not cross the street in front of the bus lane. Follow the sidewalk to your right along the circle drive to board your bus where it is parked. • Student/Parent handbook is on the AHS website. Students and parents may request a hard copy in main office. • Chromebook checkout or issues? – Sign up in library.

  12. Extras • Student Parking – You must have a parking permit showing on your vehicle. The west side lot is reserved for seniors only. The east side lot is for all students with a permit. Get your parking permit in the second floor. • This year, students must have a permit to park on the fenced side of Stephen F. Austin Drive. Students may not park on the trail side of the street. That side is now for people using the hike and bike trail during the day, and they will have to pay to park. • If you are parked in the west senior lot, the east lot, or on the street without a permit, you will receive a parking ticket.

  13. Sign up for Remind! Remind:

  14. Help with my Schedule • Missing a class period??? -go to cafeteria during that period. • Something’s not right, but I have classes – email your counselor and wait to be called to their office. • AP/Pre-AP is too hard! You must stay in for 3 weeks, get tutoring and have a parent conference before a change can be made. • PE and Team Sports classes report to The Maroon Room – down the PE hallway, first hall on the right adjacent to the Coaches’ office.

  15. Off Periods All students with an off period go to the iLab for orientation during that off period.

  16. Dual Credit Classes Dual credit courses will meet beginning today. Report to your teacher for further directions. You will need to show your ACC ID badge to go off campus during that period if you are not a senior.

  17. Parent Pick-up and Drop-off Morning drop off: Designated on the West side of campus only.Afternoon pick up: Parents are encouraged to pick up on West side of campus.  If parents must pick up on East side of campus, parking is not allowed under the Cesar Chavez bridge.  West side drop off/pick up instructions: Enter staff parking lot and merge left into designated drop off/pick up lanes indicated with stripes in the picture below. Always pull forward while waiting. Do not stop in the center lane.  The center lane is designated for continuous flow. Always stop for pedestrians crossing the crosswalk. East side pick up instructions: We encourage you to arrive to pick-up your student after all buses have departed at 4:30PM.  Once the buses have departed, you are welcome to enter campus on the main drive and pull all the way into the circle to safely and conveniently pick up your student. Another alternative is to wait in the parking area at the West Austin Youth Association (WAYA) fields.  WAYA requests anyone using the entrance to their facility not park in such a way that impedes traffic flow in or out of their facility.  Safety is their main concern.
