This is a major challenge as only less than 15% of the population in the developing nations of Asia and the Pacific have access to high-speed internet. In the least developed and landlocked countries inexpensive and reliable internet access is almost non- existent. Recent developments within the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway initiative promise to increase the international bandwidth for developing countries in the region as well as lowering internet prices.
