  2. What they are……. • Hairbrushes are wooden/plastic sticks with bristles on them to get rid of the debris on the person's hair. • Today hairbrushes can be either round, or flat. • Hairbrushes normally get rid of the breakage on unkept, unhealthy hair.

  3. The materials!!!! • Hairbrushes normally have a wooden end, used for the person to hold while brushing their hair. It must be firm in order to make sure the handle doesn’t fall off. • In the middle of the brush, there are tiny bristles, which are used to place the hair back into manageable condition. • Hairbrushes today can also have plastic handles, which are normally less money! • Raw materials include, wood, synthetic bristles, and the glue to hold them together. The wood is needed for strong, supple support onto the brush, and the bristles may either be rough or soft, depending on texture.

  4. The “lengthy” process! • First, they carve the wood into the shape they have drawn. The shape can be any shape they desire, but it has to be realistic. • Then they carve holes into the wood, to make room for the bristles. • They glue the bristles into the holes. They may glue rubber onto the brush, if needed. • Then they ship them to the market, so that way people can keep up their healthy hair!

  5. A brief history • In 1865, and woman named Lyda D. Newman wanted a better way to take care of her hair without combing it with her fingers. She decided to create a diagram, using a new way to deal with her hair instead of combing it. After she tested her first brush, she decided the quality of it was garbage, so she created a new diagram, enhancing the amount of bristles on it, securing them with wire. The hairbrush was improved in 1898. She tested her brushes in her own home, in New York City. • We no longer use wires to secure the bristles on our hair brushes, we keep them in with glue.
