  9. 3rd, 4th, and 5th ESL Pacing Guide • The lessons in the NG Reach Teacher’s Edition are written as 45-60 minute daily lessons. The lessons in Reach are called Day 1, Day 2, etc. and address the development of skills in Language, Vocabulary, Reading, and Writing. • For SAISD teachers, the NG Reach will be used as the resource to address the linguistic needs of ELL students. • A 30 minute ESL block will be scheduled daily. The “Day” as found in NG Reach will be considered a “Lesson” and it is recommended that two 30 minute periods of time be used to complete the lesson. • Note that each lesson begins with Language of the Day. Teachers will follow the Steps 1, 2, 3, etc. for each lesson. These steps will guide the teacher on the “how to” such as Teach/Model; Practice/Apply; Talk Together, and much more. The format used in Reach complement the Madeline Hunter Instructional Theory into Practice (ITIP) for lesson delivery.
