  1. Why Should I Obey The Lord ?

  2. Romans 6:16 -18 16. “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17. But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”

  3. Reasons to obey… Romans 13:7 NKJV “Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due,” “But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain:” Romans 13:4

Because I Believe there is a God • Man will worship something • We did not get here by our self • Men have rejected a belief in God • “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” Rom. 1:22 • Believe evolution • No system of morality • Man is just an animal • “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” Psalms 14:1

Because I Believe there is a God • We believe there is a God • A person - personality - “in His image” Gen.1:26 • Infinite in size - Ps. 19:1 “glory of God” • Infinite in knowledge • Infinite in power - able to destroy - Mt. 10:28 • I will obey because • He can destroy • He speaks - Heb. 12:25 “See that ye refuse not him that speaketh”

Because I Believe The Bible is God’s revealed message to man • Written by about 40 men • Over a period of about 1600 years • Historically accurate • Knowledge excelling their own time • If written by men then: • How could it be so unified ? • How could it make predictions ? • Why a high standard of morality ?

Because I Believe The Bible is God’s revealed message to man God spoke to mankind “men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:20-21 ESV God Speaks to us through His Son Heb.1:1-2 “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son” Message of Christ is in New Testament Heb. 9:15 “he is the mediator of the new testament” “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” Luke 6:46

Because I Believe God knows my Name He has names for all the stars Psalms 147:4 “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.” He knows the number of hairs in my head Mt 10:30 “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” SURELY HE KNOWS MY NAME ! “your names are written in heaven” Lk.10:20

  10. Because I Believe God knows my Name • Nothing is hid from Him • Heb. 4:12-13 “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight” • He demands of me, my very best • I will be held personally responsible • Psalms 139:1-2 I may run, but I can’t hide !

  11. Because I Believe God Loves Me Why Does God Care About Me? “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” Psalms 8:4 Why Does God Love Me ? I have sinned against Him - Rom. 3:23 I am not insignificant Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Because I Believe God Loves Me Love Demands a response Love returned “We love Him because He first loved us.” I Jn 4:19 Love will cause us to do things we would not do “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:11 Human standards could not do this When we Love God --- Obedience is simple ! ! “If you love me, keep my commandments” Jn. 14:15

  13. Why Should I Obey The Lord ? Because I Believe there is a God Because I Believe The Bible is God’s revealed message to man Because I Believe God knows my Name Because I Believe God Loves Me
