  4. LIFE: Powered by YOU Empowerment workshops for at-risk middle school girls to help them take charge of their lives.

  5. Preserving independence for elderly women A volunteer support program providing transportation, appointment help, shopping, and light housekeeping to allow elderly women to stay in their homes.

  6. Meg Lowman Treetops Camp A week-long camp to inspire girls of limited opportunity to seek careers in biology.

  7. Funding for women to participate in training seminars and classes to help them transition out of poverty.

  8. Shoot Like a Girl! Elmira College Women’s Hockey Team Financial aid for girls participating in youth ice hockey building skills and confidence in girls guided by strong role models.

  9. Medication Lab Expenses Satisfying women’s health needs in Steuben, Chemung and Schuyler counties.

  10. Women’s Breast Health Program Community classes in breast health, preventive health education and care from a certified lymph therapist, Reiki master, and lymphedema and oncology massage specialist.

  11. A program supporting the needs of teen mothers. Teen Success

  12. Not by Bread Alone Women’s Health & Beauty Products A program that provides basic hair and skin care items, nail polish, sanitary supplies, etc. Necessary items that, by law, a food pantry cannot purchase and clients cannot buy with food stamps. Painted Post Food Pantry

  13. Lost But Not Forgotten Grief Program Education and the use of creativity as a means to express difficult emotions for at-risk teenage girls who have suffered a recent loss.

  14. Step Out and Stop the Violence Promoting awareness of the immediate and long term impact of domestic violence.

  15. Self-Defense for Young Women Martial arts/self-defense training for young women 10 yrsand up. Girls learn to be aware of their surroundings, make safe choices, and defend themselves.

  16. Grants for Continuing Education Grants of up to $500 to continue a woman’s education or to support her return to school to gain new skills. Over 50 awarded since the start of the Fund for Women!

  17. Grants for Continuing Education Grants have helped women with: Nursing student equipment – scrubs, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs Camera equipment for a sign language video College tuition Music education Textbooks Transportation to get to school

Janet’s Fund Emergency Grants for Women Grants have helped women with: Repair of a hot-water heater for a home-bound elder Rent after the loss of a bread-winner Appropriate clothing for a teen girl missing gym class Clearing a medical debt to avoid default Materials for a wheelchair accessible home ramp so a disabled women could leave the hospital Paying a security deposit so a single mother could move her family into a new apartment

  21. Barriers to Care Grants for women who face challenges affecting their breast cancer treatment, such as transportation, child care, elder care, nutrition, prosthetics or other non-medical barriers to care.
