DNA is Acquired from Parents • You pass on a genetic blueprint by modeling. • The effectiveness of modeling is directly proportional to its reproducibility. • Consider reproducibility over the long term. • Consider reproducibility in terms of “typical” target members. • Remember, you are modeling the WHO, WHAT, HOW, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY of ministry.

  3. If you want a church that’s: Healthy Fruitful Loving Giving Obedient Humble Serving Accountable Provide the Right Model Model it!

  4. A Model is a Template or Pattern • Model WHO does ministry. • Who will lead? Plant churches? Evangelize? Train? • What education or experience is necessary? • How will they be trained? • Who is in control?

  5. A Model is a Template or Pattern • Model WHAT ministry is done. • Leading others to faith • Preparing others to lead • Starting new churches • Encouraging other churches • Being responsible for and to others

  6. A Model is a Template or Pattern • Model HOW ministry is done. • Team approach • Multiple leadership forms • Empowering rather than controlling • Participative teaching, worship styles • Mentoring and being mentored in discipleship chains

  7. A Model is a Template or Pattern • Model WHEN ministry is done. • “Early” baptism • Quick turning over of leadership • Immediate involvement of new believers in ministry • Start new churches when there are new believers • Daily studies in evangelism and early discipleship

  8. A Model is a Template or Pattern • Model WHERE ministry is done. • In homes and businesses • Locally • In unreached areas • As you go • To the ends of the earth

  9. A Model is a Template or Pattern • Model WHY ministry is done. • Nature of the Gospel • Will of God • Obedience • Freely we have received, freely we should give • Love: God’s nature (and ours)
