Turnitin Update • UW-ACE “hook” installed on development system for testing • Demo Monday for support staff (IST, Acct, CTE) and Sally Gunz, lead professor • Support Turnitin only through UW-ACE • “Pass through” login, roster updating • Things to figure out (assignments on Turnitin, not UW-ACE; restricting access)
UW-ACE Update for UCISTFor 30 November 2007Last update 16 February 2007 Andrea Chappell, IST
Topics • Growth peaking? • Student email in UW-ACE (the conclusion) • Retaining data for grade appeals • What is the necessary duration? Policies? • UW-ACE Ops topics • Students dropped for non-payment • Faculty survey • Policies and communications • What’s next?
Student email • End April 2007 UCIST asked for Email to Entire Class, and All Students be removed • June, reversed change to UW-ACE db to prevent student access to student profiles • All Students reappeared in Email dropdown • No way to prevent “All Students” access • New help document: “UW-ACE Course Mail Settings Guide”
Retaining data for grade appeals • Request for data from 2005 course • V6.2 archive didn’t load in V7.1 • Went to backups, taking 3 days to resolve • What deadline for student initiated appeal? • Does that deadline determine UW-ACE data retention? • Procedures regarding communications in request for data retrieval?
UW-ACE Ops topics • Students dropped for non-payment • Disruptive, and usually get involved in manual intervention • Now, drop from roster (not removed) so can be more easily re-inserted if pay • Faculty survey – future topic for UCIST? • Policies and communication • Documenting
What’s next? • Upgrade tentatively set for Tues. April 29th • LMS review plans • ANGEL licence renewal in May 2010 • Plan to stay with ANGEL unless compelling reason to move! • Good time to review: Web 2.0 tools on the rise, open system (Moodle, Sakai) gains • New Learning Program Suite – institutional and outcomes reporting; focus group
