  2. IMPACT SOUND FROM STAIRS 1

  3. CONCERNING ONLY PRECAST CONCRETE STAIRS 2

  4. IMPACT SOUND TRANSMISSION- A CHALLENGE IN FUTURE • MORE FOCUS ON ACCESSIBLE SOLUTIONS • MOST CONSTRUCTIONS CAN NOT SATISFAY COMING NEW REQUIREMENTS • SOUND TRANSMISSION FROM STAIRS TO NEIGHBOUR ROOMS • REDUCED QUALITY OF THE FLAT/BUILDING 3

  5. TRANSMISSION FROM CONCRETE STAIRS WITHOUT SOUND REDUCING EFFORTS 4

  6. 65 -70* dB = Normal values in situ build stair/landing constructions • ( *= similar to a normal conversation ) 5

  7. Max allowable values for weighted impact sound pressure levels for living houses (in Norway) 6

  8. Max allowable values for weighted impact sound pressure levels(ex. Building regulations in Norway/ Norwegian Standard NS 8175; Class C- buildingsClass C buildings are the most common ( = value for class B)) • Livingroom 53 dB (48 dB for class B) • School 58 dB • Hospital 58 dB • Hotel 58 dB • Meeting room 58 dB • Office 63 dB 7

  9. The principle for effective sound reduction 8

  10. SOLUTIONS FOR IMPACT SOUND REDUCTION • We have developed products suitable together with our • TSS and RVK units. • These solutions are reducing the impact sound far • below the limits in the building standards 9

  11. SINTEF* BUILDING AND INFRASTRUCTURE HAVE IN 2007 TESTED OUR SOLUTIONS • Testing of impact sound transmission in two new buildings, and one existing office building in Oslo • Several solutions with TSS and RVK were tested • * = SINTEF is the largest independent research organiztaion in Scandinavia. 10

  12. TSS WITH MASTICORD 6,5 MM PLATE, 72 SHORE 11

  13. TSS AND ELASTOMER SOCK FOR WALL, 58 SHORE 12

  14. TSS WITH ELASOMER SOCK FOR LANDING, 58 SHORE 13
