Online Teacher Certification • Online Teacher Certification is a alternative teaching certification program which is used to earn a certification outside of a traditional college program. • Alternative Teaching Certification is almost accepted by every state in the country. When hiring a persona for a teaching position, the department of education needs a proof that the person knows how to teach and manage a classroom. • And for that proof mostly a degree in education is used to show the department of education.

Online Teacher Certification • If a person did not have a major in education and later he wants to Become a Teacherthen there will be two options. • Either they can return to a college or school to complete their Master’s degree in education or a secondary Bachelor Degree which will take 2-4 years to complete. • Or they can certify through alternative teaching program or online teaching certification program which will take less than a year to pass the certification.

How the program works? • The program is quite simple actually as it is entirely online and self paced so a candidate can move as fast or slow as per his or her convenience. • The candidate needs to pass two exams to get a certification, one in his subject area like Math, English, Physics etc and a Professional Teacher Knowledge exam. • The exams are a mix of multiple type questions, problem solving and essay type depending on the subject you’ll choose.

  5. How the program works? • After passing the two exams you’ll receive your Teaching Certification from the institute. Take certification to the your State’s Department of Education or your local school district and you’ll get a temporary permit. • Each state has it’s own teaching requirements for what you have to do the first few years of teaching. For some states you are required to complete a mentorship program with your local school district. • While in other states you have to pass a summer course in the first three years. Find out what your school district requires in order to transition your temporary permit into your state issued full time teaching permit.

  6. How teaching license works? • The temporary teaching permit which is also known as a conditional teaching permit is usually valid for 1-2 years depending on the state. These permits are non renewable and teacher have to approved by a school district to move further in the license process. • To get approval, teacher have to complete successful classroom teaching observations, taking additional classes online or attending workshops. • When you’ll get approval from the state department you’ll be able to upgrade your temporary teaching license.
