Diphoton + MET Dialectic: Optimization for several fb -1

This project aims to optimize the Diphoton + MET analysis by considering various variables such as isolation, MET, photon Pt, Meff/HT/jets, Photon-MET Δφ, Photon-MET mass, and diphoton invariant mass. The goal is to improve data/MC discrimination and target different signal regions, while also exploring multiple MET cuts and potential inclusion of jets.

  1. Diphoton + MET Dialectic: Optimization for several fb-1 Bruce Schumm 12 Sept 2011 Who plans to contribute? • DESY (Ehrenfeld, Wildt, Vankov) • Annecy (Przysiezniak Frey) • Penn (Williams, Bradmiller-Feld) • Santa Cruz (Damiani, Schumm) • Tokyo? (Jinnouchi)

  2. Details of Optimization Procedure? What signal point? (1000,500)? What backgrounds? How many fb-1? Figure of merit?

  3. What variables? • Old standards: • Isolation • MET (scaled?) • Old standards not previously used in optimization • Photon Pt • Variable not part of previous analyses • Meff / HT / jets • Photon-MET  • Photon-MET mass • Diphoton invariant mass • Do we want to do data/MC discrimination studies of these?

  4. What other issues? • Several selections targeting different signal regions? • Several MET cuts? • Jets? • Anything else?
