  2. INTRODUCTION • A disaster is a sudden calamity that may cause displacement of a great number of people living or working in an area. • The term displacement also includes deaths, loss of live hood property & human suffering all of which are the result of disaster.

  3. TYPE OF DISASTER • Disaster can broadly be divided into two group as follow; • NATURAL DISASTER. • MANMADE DISASTER.

  4. EFFECTS OF DISASTER • A disaster causes destruction of natural , resources, life & property. As a result, the normal functioning of the society is disrupted. • The magnitude of disaster depends on the density of population in the affected area . • An important environmental consequence of a disaster is the damage to an ecosystem by pollution of rivers, ground water, dust & heat in atmosphere .

  5. CYCLONES ; cyclones develop as moisture evaporates from warm oceans in the lowlatitudes during the hottest months of the year. EARTH QUAKE ;earthquake are vibrations produced in the earth’s crust. DROUGHT ;the term drought refers to a long period of time when there is little or no rain. LANDSLIDES; landslides is a descent of a mass of and down a mountain slope. FLOOD ;flood occur when the waters of rivers, lakes ,or streams overflow their banks and pour out onto the surrounding land. TYPE OF NATURALDISASTER
