Day of the dead altars

Day of the dead altars. Cameron H. Traditionally, every family in Mexico builds an Altar for their family or friends that have passed away. For my day of the dead project I made an altar for my grandparents. It isn't as good as other people in Mexico but I believe that it is nice.

  1. Day of the dead altars Cameron H

  2. Traditionally, every family in Mexico builds an Altar for their family or friends that have passed away. For my day of the dead project I made an altar for my grandparents. It isn't as good as other people in Mexico but I believe that it is nice.

  3. The salt represents the continuance of life.

  4. The fruit represents food that the spirits can eat after the long trip.

  5. Candles are lit to welcome the spirits back to the world.

  6. The water is there because the spirits are tired after traveling from to other side to our side. They can then drink the water after the long journey

  7. Toiletries are there so that the spirits can freshen up after they reach the altar, so a hairbrush, a tooth brush and toothpaste are there so they can freshen up.

  8. The golf ball and material is there because my grandpa liked to golf and my grandma liked to sew. These objects are mementos of their lives.

  9. This is a photo of my grandparents when they got married. They, are who the altar is dedicated to.

  10. Some other Day of the Dead altars.
