Highlights A launching year for the new Phase Actually a 9-month period (Apr-Dec) Focus on proper design, mainly mobilization of partners & resources, results programming and gender mainstreaming (gender sensitive design, budgeting and monitoring) For already defined activities, focus will be on implementation & monitoring COP year, COP 11 (Q4, 2013), entails active involvement in related activities

MainstreamingUNCCD processes Participate/contribute to CRIC 11 (April) Participate/contribute to COP 11 (October) - including preparation of advocacy and technical material for the UNDP stand Contribute to UNDDD processes (concept note for 2013 Observance & event organization) Contribute to UNCCD-led Task Force on Global Drylands Report (GDR): concept note, consultations at CRIC, action plan, and launch/side-event at COP 11 Support the implementation of the UNCCD Advocacy Policy Framework on Gender (activities to be agreed with the Secretariat)

4. Result 1. MainstreamingLebanon & Tunisia/NAP Alignment Prepare Project Identification Forms (PIF) to secure GEF & national funding for NAP alignment Provide technical support to enhance NAP alignment with UNCCD 10YSP and relevant national development frameworks

6. Result 1. MainstreamingAlgeria/ Rural Renewal Program Design and set-up an intranet portal within MADR for information sharing on RRP implementation Establish the “Observatory of Integrated Development” as a reflection, analysis and communication tool on rural development efforts

Result.2 LivelihoodsLebanon Finalize agreement with Art Gold (consultations, partners & resources) Design & implement activities in the Bekaa (ecotourism and agro-food processing) and the South (agro-food processing by women groups) Focus on results monitoring framework including indicators, targets and gender considerations

Result.2 LivelihoodsTunisia - Kasserine Implement livelihood enhancing interventions (water harvesting and supply) Pursue micro-finance provision on a rotational basis for animal fattening, carpet weaving, and other income-generating activities Pursue land rehabilitation, soil conservation and olive tree planting Wrap-up activities and document development results, good practices & lessons learned

Result.3 Natural Resource ManagementTunisia – Governance of Drinking Water Train water user associations on good practices in drinking water management Enhance management capacity and women participation in water user associations Rehabilitate 6 drinking water networks (studies, bidding and rehabilitation)

15. South-South Cooperation Organize Partners Meeting in Tunisia (on the side of the Advisory Committee Meeting) Refresh Programme website to reflect latest achievements as well as Phase V focus and activities Update website on a regular basis with input from national partners
