  6. C-MORE Education Goals Increase scientific literacy in microbial oceanography. Produce leaders in the next generation of microbial oceanographers by providing state-of-the-art training. Increase the number of underrepresented minorities pursuing careers in the ocean and earth sciences, and related disciplines.

  10. Grants for Education in Microbial Science (GEMS) “Students working with scientists in their environment … may be one of the most powerful tools to recruitment. Last year was the first year [we] went to Coconut Island .... Had it not been for C-MORE's contribution, students would not been able to afford [it]” - GEMS award recipient Sustainability To date: 91 awards, 19,000 students* Year 8: 13 awards, 1171 students* OCEAN & EARTH SCIENCES MINI-GRANT APPLICATION *Mostly underrepresented

Science Teachers Aboard Research Ships (STARS) “I feel this has been the most inspiring, enjoyable, and useful professional development experience I have had in my two and a half decades of teaching.
