  2. Classroom Management Plan • What is classroom management? • “Classroom management refers to all the things a teacher does to organize students, space, time, and materials so that learning can take place” (Wong). National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance Indicators for Teachers

  3. ClassroomManagementwithTechnology For effective classroom management teachers must organize and manage: Instructional Material Students Time National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance Indicators for Teachers

  7. Managing a classroom involves three elements: Plans • Procedures and routines • Explain • Re-hearse • Reinforce • Procedures • Routines • Managing students involves: • Planning • Procedures • Routines • Teachers need to plan how they want their students to proceed in the computer classroom. Procedures must be developed so that students know exactly what to do and how to proceed from the beginning to end of each lesson. These procedures must become routine so that there is no confusion in the computer class. National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance Indicators for Teachers

  8. Explain • Re-hearse • Reinforce • Effective teachers plan their procedures very carefully before each lesson. Students need procedures so that they always know to do and what to expect. The teacher must explain the procedures over and over again until they are clear. Next these must be rehearsed and finally reinforced by supportive and encouraging words. Student Management • “The number - one problem in the classroom is not discipline – it is the lack of procedures and routines” (Wong). • Teachers must EXPLAIN, RE-HEARSE,and REINFORCE classroom procedures. • Students need classroom procedures so that they always know to do and what to expect. The teacher must explain the procedures over and over again until they are clear. Next these must be rehearsed with the students. Finally, the teacher must reinforce them by supportive and encouraging words. National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance Indicators for Teachers

  9. Time Management Time is a very important factor in classroom management. The lesson begins with a certain procedure and ends with another. Students must know that there is a time limit. They must know how to manage their time. “There should not be any wasted time, confusion or disruption” (Wong) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance Indicators for Teachers
