Where do Entomologists fit? • 72B slots at WRAIR/RIID/AFRIMS/USAMRU-K • 05A (Branch Immaterial) • USAMMDA: CDR (O6), Deputy CDR (O5/O6) Product Manager (No requirement) • CBMS: CDR (O6) Product Manager: Joint Vaccine Acquisition Program (O5) Product Manager: Medical Identification and Treatment Systems (O5)

  5. How Can you Compete? • CBMS: O5/O6 CSL Commands • Level II Certification in Program Management to compete, Level III to assume command; • Army Acquisition Corps Member; • USAMMDA: Currently Non-CSL (CSL FY11?) • Recommend Level II/III Certification in PM or other Acquisition Career Field; • Recommend Army Acquisition Corps Member; • Talk to USAMMDA leadership, MRMC Principle Assistant for Acquisition (Dr. Bertram), and/or 72B Consultant;

  6. How do I get certified and become an Acquisition Corps member? • Are you currently in an acquisition position? • Yes: Easy to do…..more to follow • No: Can you get this changed to yes? If in MRMC, contact Chris Houck for guidance. If not in MRMC, DLA or similar organization probably cannot change to yes. You can take training courses as “non-acquisition personnel,” however, these will not be centrally funded.

  7. Acquisition Career Fields • Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (ATL) approves the training/education/experience required to meet the standards for certification in 15 ATL career fields. • Example: Program Management (PM) • Three levels of certification in each career field; • http://icatalog.dau.mil/onlinecatalog/CareerLvl.aspx • MACOMS can set certification requirements for acquisition positions.

Acquisition Career Fields • Program Management Level I: • ACQ 101: Intro to Systems Acquisition Management (25 CLP Web) • SYS 101: Fundamentals of Systems Planning, RD&E (35 CLP Web) • CLB 007/016: Cost Analysis & Intro to EVM (5 CLP Web) • 1 year of acquisition experience (designated acquisition position) • Program Management Level II: • ACQ 201: Intermed Systems Acquisition (37 CLP Web & 1-week Res) • PMT 250: Program Management Tools (80 CLP Web & 4-day Res) • CON 110: Mission-Support Planning (23 CLP Web) • IRM 101: Basic Information Systems Acquisition (35 CLP Web) • 2 years of acquisition experience • Program Management Level III: • PMT 352: Program Management Course (50 CLP Web & 5-week Res) • SYS 202: Intermediate Systems Planning RD&E (30 CLP Web) • 4 years acquisition experience

Training/Certification??? • Career Acquisition Management Portal (CAMP) • https://rda.altess.army.mil/camp/ • Create new account, thereafter can use CAC; • Select Primary Career Field (e.g., Program Mngmnt) • Must have an “acquisition supervisor” (MRMC: Chris Houck, 301-619-7276, chris.houck@us.army.mil); • Enter CAPPMIS (button at top of page): • Career Acquisition Personnel & Position Management Information System: • 5 subheadings. 3 key ones are IDP, CMS, AAC MS;

Training/Certification??? • IDP (Individual Development Plan) • Allows you to establish a training plan tailored to your needs: Defense Acquisition University and non-DAU courses; • Acquisition supervisor approves training – this allows you to enroll in DAU courses and will provide central funding for these; • DAU: https://learn.dau.mil/html/login/login.jsp • Documents the training you have completed (require 80 CLPs every 2 years)

  11. Training/Certification??? • CMS (Certification Management System) • Shows your 1o and 2o acquisition career fields; • Allows you to apply for certification once you have completed required courses;

Training/Certification??? • AAC MS (Army Acquisition Corps Mngmnt Sys) • Allows you to apply for Acquisition Corps membership; • Provides guidance on membership requirements; • Level II certified in any Acquisition Career Field (ACF) • Education: A baccalaureate degree and one of the following: • 24 semester credit hours in business related disciplines from an accredited college or university (courses must be on a transcript) • 24 semester credit hours in current Acquisition Career Field AND 12 semester credit hours in business related disciplines • Experience: Four years of acquisition experience • Grade: Must be serving in the grade of Major or above.
