  6. Piensa: How would you greet the following people?

  7. ¡Hola! • This is the Spanish word for hi or hello • It has a silent letter in it, can you guess which letter it is? ¡Hola! • ‘h’ is always a silent letter in Spanish • Can you think of some words in English that begin with an ‘h’ practice saying them without the ‘h’ at the beginning

  8. According to the time of day ¡Hola! ¡Hola! ¡Buenos días! ¡Qué tal! ¡Buenas tardes! ¡Buenas noches!

  9. Nota Cultural: El contacto -What is physical contact like in the US when you greet someone? Does this vary with age of the person and social status? - In many Latino countries it is common to kiss on the cheek when you meet; especially among women and men and women greeting each other. How would this make you feel?

  13. Goodbye in Spanish • In Spanish the main way of saying goodbye is ¡Adiós! • People also use: • ¡Hasta luego! - see you later • ¡Hasta mañana! - see you tomorrow • ¡Nos vemos! - See you. • ¡gracias! - thank you
