Paintshop pro • Paintshop pro started out as being a graphics editor but more recently has become a vector graphics editor as well. • It is specifically designed for people who own the Microsoft windows system. • It works with file types such as; BMP and GIF. Limitations • With adobe’s photoshop being the main program used for photo editing the two are compared regularly, and without the amount of different editing tools photoshop has, Paintshop is often seen as inferior. 3. Paint • Paint is a more basic version of photo editing software. • It is a good way of training younger children on how to edit images. • The tools are very basic and easy to use, this is good if you want to produce something but only in a few minutes. • It is also free so if you don’t like it, you can simply uninstall it without wasting any money. Limitations • With the tools being so basic is a very difficult to produce work of a very professional standard. Ollie Coles, Software

  4. Gimp • GIMP allows you to edit and retouch photos and is also a free download. • Other tools included allow you to resize photos, crop photos and change the file format of each image. • If you are not satisfied with the free version it is possible to buy paint studio which is an improved version. Limitations • The layout of photoshop is a lot more easier to work with an looks more appealing so if you want the job to be done professionaly then photoshop should be the way forward. Limitations • The price is the main factor that springs to mind when thinking of limitations. • It can be up to double or more the price of other editing software on the market. • For example the average price of photoshop is around £200 - £400 whereas others, for example Gimp is free.
