Getting Started • Double-click on the Power Point icon on your desktop. • Immediately go to “File” on the Menu Bar and click “Save As…” • Save your slide show as your names. • Remember to go to the picture of the disk and “Save” often so you do not loose your hard work! Add Slides • Your presentation must be at least 4 slides long • title slide • day/night slide • length of the year slide • seasons slide • To add more slides, go to “Insert” on the Menu Bar. • Click on “New Slide.” • Repeat the last two steps three times. • Check on the left of your screen to see that there are 4 slides. Creating Your Slides • YOU MUST COMPLETE THE INFORMATION PART OF YOUR PRESENTATION FIRST! • After that is completed, you may work on the design and look of your presentation. • Instructions for each slide are coming… It’s a Meteor!   5. Title Slide • In the “Click to add title” box, type in what you would like to title your presentation. • In the “Click to add subtitle” box, type in you and your partners’ full names and the date. It’s a Meteor! Slide Show Directions Created by Kate Boehmler and Laura L. Walker Summer 2005

Day/Night Slide • On your second slide, describe how the Earth’s relationship with the sun affects day and night. • Add a title to the Title Box – yours should be more clever than this one  • Add your information in the Text Box (where it says “Click to add text”). • Make sure you are not writing one long paragraph – bullet your important points. • If you have so much information that you run out of room… It’s a Meteor! Review and Evaluate • Review your slide show with these questions in mind: • Did I address each topic? • Did I give enough information for each relationship to be understood? • Is my information organized in my presentation? • Is everything spelled correctly and did I use proper capitalization, usage, and punctuation? • Now go to “View” on the Menu Bar and click on “Slide Show” to review your work. Now the Fun Stuff! • Reminder: Save your work! • Alert your teacher that you have completed the information portion of your presentation. • Now you may make changes to the design of your presentation. Changes may include: • Background design • Color scheme • Adding transitions • Make sure that you don’t add TOO many extras – you want your presentation to be easy to read. It’s a Meteor! Choosing a Background Design • Go to “Format” on the Menu Bar and click on “Slide Design”. • Choose a design template from the choices on the right by clicking on it ONCE – this will change both your background and the font of your text. • You may try this with several (for more options, scroll down) to see which one you like best. • Once you have made a final choice… SAVE your work! Choosing a Color Scheme • Look above your design template choices for the words “Color Scheme” and click on it • Choose a color scheme from the choices on the right by clicking on it ONCE • You may try this with several (for more options, scroll down) to see which one you like best • Once you have made a final choice… SAVE your work! Adding Transitions • Look above your design template choices for the words “Animation Schemes” and click on it. • Click on your first slide on the left. • Choose an animation scheme from the choices on the right by clicking on it ONCE. • You may try this with several (for more options, scroll down) to see which one you like best. • Now to animate your other slides… It’s a Meteor! Adding Transitions (continued) • Click on your second slide on the left and choose an animation for it, then repeat for your remaining slides. • Once you have made your final choices… SAVE your work! • Go to “View” on the Toolbar and choose “Slide Show” to review your slide show. • Make any necessary changes and SAVE your work! • And finally… It’s a Meteor!
