2. Bookstart – The Concept • Bookstart is based on the principle that every child in the UK • should have the opportunity to enjoy book sharing from as • early an age as possible. • Quality Time - Listening, Talking, Having Fun • Emphasis on reading for pleasure • Positive effect on early literacy

3. Bookstart – The Practicalities • Gift of free packs of books with information • Packs gifted by health visitors, libraries etc

4. Distribution of packs: • Baby Pack – 100% coverage = Best Practice • Treasure Chests – 99% coverage = Best Practice

5. Bookstart Baby Pack Gifted at 7-9 months

6. Bookstart Corner Gifted at 2 years • Children’s Centre Home Visiting Programme • 50 Vulnerable Families per centre
