  2. Lab Equipment • Throughout the year, we will be using various types of equipment in our labs. • You will need to recognize the name of each piece of equipment as well as how it is used.

  3. Glassware • Beaker: container that can be used to conduct experiments, mix chemicals, or measure • Graduated Cylinder: used to measure volume of a liquid • Test Tube: used to hold liquids and conduct experiments

  4. Glassware • Erlenmeyer Flask: used to heat and store substances • Funnel: aids in pouring liquids into small openings without spilling them

  5. Glassware Holders • Test tube holder: used to hold a hot test tube • Tongs: used to carry hot beakers • Test tube clamp: used to attach a test tube to the ring stand • Ring stand: stand used to support a test tube, beaker or flask

  6. Heating • Bunsen Burner: device used to heat chemicals • Hot Plate: used to heat chemicals without a flame

  7. Weighing • Triple Beam Balance: used to measure the weight of a substance
