  4. Global Policy for Allocation of IPv6 Address Space • This document describes the policy governing the allocation of IPv6 address space from the IANA to the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). • The main points of proposal are: 1.The unit of IPv6 allocation (and therefore the minimum IPv6 allocation) from IANA to an RIR is a /12

  5. Global Policy for Allocation of IPv6 Address Space • 2.The IANA will allocate sufficient IPv6 address space to the RIRs to support their registration needs for at least an 18 month period. • 3. The IANA will allow for the RIRs to apply their own respective chosen allocation and reservation strategies

  6. Global Policy for Allocation of IPv6 Address Space • 4 RIRs have adopted the second version of this proposal • 5 June 2006 , it was submitted to the ASO AC by EC of NRO and adopted by the ASO AC on 12 July 2006. • Now it was submitted to ICANN for comments

  7. Global Policy for Allocation of IPv6 Address Space • Address Council’s opinion is: The proposed is a well-crafted policy that fulfills the real need to govern IPv6 address allocation at the very highest level in a manner that ensures sufficient space will be allocated to all regions while limiting wasteful practices and stemming routing table growth.

  8. ASO AC Selection of ICANN Board Member • In compliance with the ASO MoU and ICANN bylaws the Address Council hereby called for nominations to the ICANN Board to fill the ASO seat currently held by Mouhamet Diop, whose term expires in June of 2006. • This nomination period was closed on 4 April 2006.

  9. ASO AC Selection of ICANN Board Member • On May 3, 2006, ASO AC selected David L. Wodelet to serve a three year term on the ICANN Board of Directors. Mr. Wodelet's term began in June 2006

  10. ASO AC Procedure for Processing Global Policy • This document specifies the procedures to be used by the ASO Address    Council ("ASO AC") when processing  Global Policy Proposals.
