  2. -gar, -car, -zar Verbs • Remember that verbs ending in –gar, -car, and –zar have a spelling change ONLY in the yo form in the preterite. • The other forms of these verbs are regular.

  9. PRETERITE OF VERBS WITH SPELL CHANGES • Verbs that end in –aer, -eer, and –uir as well as the verb “oír” change the “i” to “y” in the third person singular and plural endings. In addition, verbs ending in –aer and –eer and the verb “oír” only have a written accent on the “í’ of all preterite forms. • Exceptions - verbs ending in –guir and the verbs “traer” and “atraer”.
