INTRODUCTION Objective of the presentation: To present to the Select Committee DWA progress and update related to bilateral cooperation with African countries as outlined in the strategic Plan of 2010/2011. Purpose of the Branch The purpose of the Branch is to assist the Department to achieve its goals and address the challenges faced by the SA water sector by developing, promoting, and managing strategic international relations on water resources between countries through bilateral and multilateral cooperation instruments. 3

INTRODUCTIONCONT… Purpose of the BranchCont … The Branch further drives national interests at Africa and global multilateral organisations and coordinate the leveraging and management of international resources for the benefit of the water sector. Chief Directorate: Bilateral Cooperation promotes and facilitates collaborative activities in support of the water sector through strategic bilateral relations in Africa and globally. 4
