Additional support from your BOCES could be available for… • Registration • Creates usernames and passwords within 48 hours after the registration paperwork is complete • Orientation • Students are provided a face-to-face session on how to navigate their new course • Pacing Charts • A schedule of deadlines is developed to keep students on pace in their online courses • Continued Support throughout the Course • The NYS Certified Distance Learning teacher will visit the school once a week to work with the students to help with any questions or concerns

Create a District Framework Meeting Individual Student Needs • Provide on-site support from a local certified teacher/ mentor • Build online course time into the student’s schedule • Help students choose courses that fit their learning needs and interests • Inform of any special needs or modifications for the online student to CABOCES

  8. Your District Framework Providing Computer Time and Access • Ensure students have time to access computers during school week • Encourage immediate and frequent course activity • Provide students with a basic background in computer skills

  9. Your District Framework Assessing Students • Establish parental support • Assign an onsite NYS certified teacher/mentor • Have CA BOCES provide quarterly grades • Enforce progress based on the pacing chart

Academic Policy Recognition of Credit: • The local school district aligns and grants credit for online courses Grading and Credit: • Grades will be provided at the district’s request for grading reports • Once the course is complete, a final grade will be provided, and credit will be awarded by the local district
