  4. Industrial Hives • Incubation. • Small manufacturers hub • Provision of workspace for Coops • Provide a secure environment for businesses to operate from.

  5. Lepharo base Metal Incubator • Incubation program, which is funded by SEDA, Ekurhuleni, GDEC, Exxaro, Ekurhuleni East College, Vuka Business & mentorship program and Impala platinum. • 90% of intakes are youth, across the gender. • Open selection process, advertised on newspapers throughout Ekurhuleni.

  6. Siyafunda ICT • ICT training and free internet access. • Siyafunda centres and one harambe ICT Centres. • 14 ICT centre metro wide. • Implemented through ICT, Econ Dev. Private sector and NGO • USSASA ICT Centre in partnership with Econ Dev. for ICT Training and free internet access

  7. Enterprise Development • Incubation (Base Metal Incubator and Ekurhuleni Jewellery Project) • Cooperatives Development. • Plato mentorship Program • Standard Bank Finance Faculty • Street Trading Facilities • Nigel, Natalspruit, Sethokga, Leralla etc.

  8. Training Partnerships • DRD Gold Mining( Training Centre) • Impala Platinum, Exxaro (formerly Zinco) (Incubator) • Standard Bank & Tebfin (Access to Finance) • Inter-site: Rail Station Development (hawkers Facilities) • CSIR (fab-lab)

Recognition of Prior Learning : RPL • Advertised throughout Ekurhuleni. • Targets skilled individuals who do not have formal qualification but have skills. • Currently targeting electricians and plumbers. • Pre-Assessment is conducted by INDLELA part of Higher Education • Given top up training in order to have full qualifications. • 2 sectors have been trained & will be going trade tests.

Shared Industrial Production Facility • Provide fully equipped industrial facilities for small businesses. • Tembisa Shared Industrial Production Facility: R 6 000 000.00 for equipment & renovations. • Thokoza Shared Industrial Production Facility (Equipment only): R 500 000.00 further funding to be requested.

  11. Business Linkage Centre • There are 7 operational BLC’s throughout EMM. • Support to SMME’s. • Training • Networking. • Tender Advice Centre.

  13. Workshops • Facilitation of workshops, bring opportunity holders to open discussions. • Young Women in Business, a networking session for Ekurhuleni women who are in business. • Business Week. • Agriculture Conference. • YARD & WARD

  14. Job Placement • Program to link Jobseeker with potential employers (One Company one Job) • Partnership with the department of labour and business • Companies pledges vacancies with the Mayor. • Records and report are done by Econ. Dev.

  15. Entrepreneurship Training • Identify shortage of skills. • Business Management training. • Financial Management skills. The following sectors have been assisted with trainings. • Catering businesses. • Hair saloons

  16. Investment • Facilitation of investment in Ekurhuleni (e.g. Toyota and CONSOL Glass) • Investment promotion (Rhodes field & R21) • Business Retention and expansion. • Promotion of Smart industries
