  1. CONSERVING RESOURCES Efforts By- ANUJ TALWAR SACHDEVA PUBLIC SCHOOL

  2. PAST & PRESENT

  3. PRESENT & PAST EARTH IS A BEAUTIFUL PLANET & NOT AT ALL FRAGILE BUT THIS CANNY, PROLIFIC AND EXTREMELY SELF CENTERED CREATURE HAS PROVEN HIMSELF CAPABLE OF MORE DISTRUCTION THAN MOTHER NATURE HERSELF.

  4. RESOURCES V/S HUMAN GREED • Every year we throw away 24 million tons of leaves and grass. Leaves alone account for 75% of our solid waste in the fall. • Exploitation of natural resources cause serious threats to the environment • Human greed is one of the major factor for its degradation as they only think for today and not for their future.

  5. Renewable Energy: Not Cheap, Not "Green" • It requires enormous empty space, money, labour etc. Can anyone afford ?? • Do we have that much land, the land which we were having, is already used for our own facilities. • Even improved new generation renewable capacity is, on average, twice as expensive as new capacity from the most economical fossil-fuel alternative and triple the cost of surplus electricity. • Solar power for bulk generation is substantially more uneconomic than the average; biomass, hydroelectric power, and geothermal projects are less uneconomic. Wind power is the closest to the double-triple rule.

  6. If not renewable resources then what ? • We cannot entirely depend upon renewable resources for our needs. • We all have a stereotype thinking that we can totally rely on renewable resources so what’s the need to conserve resources. • Instead of this thinking one should make small yet efficient efforts that may contribute to the best for our environment.

  7. Increasing population • The graph shows increase in population which caused accelerated agricultural demands. • Fancy !! If the rate of increase of population continues with same pace we would be left with nothing.

  8. Deforestation • Deforestation has caused 12% increase in anthropogenic CO2 . • Depletion of forests has caused lesser water retetion in soil and atmosphere. • It risks our ‘enrich’ biodiversity at alarming rates.

  9. Afforestation • Plant more trees for a healthy life and future. • Man is the enemy of his own good. • Let us make this world bright and happy to live in by planting trees.

  10. Say no to plastic bags • Replace the use of plastic bags and bottles by biodegradable paper and jute bags.

  11. Every ton of recycled office paper saves 380 gallons of oil • Glass produced from recycled glass instead of raw materials reduces related air pollution by 20%, and water pollution by 50%. • Energy saved from one recycled aluminum can will operate a TV set for 3 hours, and is the equivalent to half a can of gasoline • If just 25% of U.S. families used 10 fewer plastic bags a month, we would save over 2.5 BILLION bags a year. • Fibre optics, made of glass, can be used to replace copper cables throughout the world. • By turning down your central heating thermostat one degree, fuel consumption is cut by as much as 10%.

  12. 5 steps you should consider • Make fuel efficiency a high priority when buying a car. Join a carpool or use the bus. Walk or ride a bicycle when possible. • Recycle. Separate wastes. Compost yard and food wastes. Use recycled products, especially paper. • Reduce or eliminate your use of “disposable” products. Buy quality and then make things last with regular maintenance. Rent or borrow items that you don’t use often. • Re-use envelopes, jars and scrap paper. Take your own bags to the grocery store. Check out garage sales and thrift stores for a chance to re-use someone else’s throw-aways. • Get involved in community tree planting, in protecting local watershed areas and/or donate money to environmental organizations.

  13. Conserving Resources • We shouldn't be cutting down trees,They belong to the birds and the bees, And instead of using up coal,Conservation should be our goal,We've got tides, we've got wind,In the past we have sinned,But the future is ours to control!

  14. Conserve Resources, Save the Planet... Budget • Conserving resources isn’t just about budget. It’s also about what is good for our planet. We live in a time where our entire society has become known as a wasteful one. • We can change that reputation, one habit at a time . Our youth needs to see us become leaders in the process of making smart choices with our money and our natural resources. • The world needs to see us become a nation that makes prudent decisions; a nation that uses appropriate consumption instead of excess. • That prudence starts at home, one family at a time. Turn off the lights. Walk more and drive less. • No special budget is required for conserving resources. Just small initiatives for saving our planet can make wonders

  15. Contribution of Stake holders • Let each one of us be the stakeholders of this planet EARTH. • Let all of us contribute towards benefit of this earth. Why to seek for stakeholders? • We have not inherited this earth from fore fathers but we have borrowed it from our children.

  16. Message to All Let every day be earth day and love earth like your own mother.

  17. Think before its too late !! Only after the last tree has been cut down Only after the last river has been poisoned Only after the last fish has been caught Only then, we will find the importance of these resources

  18. THANK YOU HOPE YOU LIKE THE EFFORTS.
