Bio Mass – Turbine Generator Sets for Uruguay • Two fundamental choices for steam turbine exhaust: • Non Condensing-Exhaustabove atmospheric pressure • Pros: Steam at lower pressures can be used in food processing, heating, air conditioning, process or for other small turbine drivers. • Cons: Since exhaust pressure is high, depending on the pressure level, it will require 2 to 3 times as much steam to make the same output. • Potentially 100% Make up water will have to be treated. • Condensing Turbine –Vacuum or sub-atmospheric • Pros: Due to the higher available energy, more power will be generated for the available steam. • Cons: Requires a condenser, cooling towers and a larger turbine • Only choice if no steam host available
