  1. God’s Plan of Salvation

  2. 2 Corinthians 6:2 Salvation from what? Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

  3. Salvation from sin 1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened,      That it cannot save;       Nor His ear heavy,       That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;       And your sins have hidden His face from you,       So that He will not hear.

  4. Salvation from sin Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Matthew 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

  5. The Plan Is Simple Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, God’s part = grace Man’s part = faith

  6. God’s Part Grace – unmerited favor Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Romans 5:5-8

  7. God’s Part Grace – unmerited favor Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Acts 13:38-39 Hebrews 10:12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God

  8. God’s Part Grace – unmerited favor Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12teaching usthat, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, cf. Acts 11:19-23, Ephesians 3:1-3

  9. God’s Part Grace – unmerited favor Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 1 Corinthians 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. Acts 20:32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

  10. Man’s Part 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish… God’s grace is for everyone, but not everyone is going to be saved. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are FEW WHO FIND IT.

  11. Man’s Part • Faith • syn·ec·do·che   (sĭ-něk'də-kē)    n.  A figure of speech in which a part is used for the whole (as hand for sailor), the whole for a part (as the law for police officer), the specific for the general (as cutthroat for assassin), the general for the specific (as thief for pickpocket), or the material for the thing made from it (as steel for sword). • http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/synecdoche

John 8:24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  16. Man’s Part Hear the Gospel. Believe it. Repent of sins.

  17. Repent of sins. • metanoia"afterthought, change of mind, repentance,…In the NT the subject chiefly has reference to "repentance" from sin, and this change of mind involves both a turning from sin and a turning to God. The parable of the Prodigal Son is an outstanding illustration of this. • http://www2.mf.no/bibelprog/vines?word=%AFt0002364

  18. Repent of sins. Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

  19. Man’s Part Hear the Gospel. Believe it. Repent of sins. Confess Christ.

  20. Confess Christ before men. Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Matthew 10:32-33 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

  21. Man’s Part Hear the Gospel. Believe it. Repent of sins. Confess Christ. Be baptized in the name of Christ.

Water baptism Acts 10:47-48 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days. Acts 8:35-36 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

  25. Be baptized in the name of Christ. Romans 6:3-4 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

  26. Man’s Part Hear the Gospel. Believe it. Repent of sins. Confess Christ. Be baptized in the name of Christ. Be faithful.

  27. Be faithful. John 10:28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. Cf. Romans 8:38-39 Hebrews 3:12-13, 10:35-39 Revelation 2:10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

  28. The Plan Is Simple Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, God’s part = grace Man’s part = faith

  29. Ephesians saved by grace through faith – not works. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. James 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

  30. Ephesians saved by grace through faith – not works. Heard the gospel and believed • Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, Repented – Ephesians 2:1-3 Were baptized in the name of the Lord. • Acts 19:1-5

  31. We must obey God to be saved. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Romans 6:16-19, 22-23

  32. What about the “Sinner’s Prayer?” The "Sinner's Prayer" is a term that describes the words spoken by a person when he or she has recognized their sin and their need for a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It goes something like this: “Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.” If you decided to repent of your sins and receive Christ today, welcome to God's family. http://www.sinner-prayer.com/

  33. What about the “Sinner’s Prayer?” • Where is the command, example or necessary inference for this? • Saul, Acts 9 • Believed – v. 5-6 • Was penitent and praying – v. 9, 11 • He was told what he MUST do – v. 6, Acts 22:16 • What of the tax collector in Luke 18:9-14? • Jews went up to the Temple to pray. • The New Covenant was not yet in effect. Hebrews 9:16-17

  34. All I’ve got to do is call on the name of the Lord. Romans 10:13 For “whoever callson the name of the LORD shall be saved.” cf. 10:10 Acts 2:21 And it shall come to passThatwhoever calls on the name of the LORDShall be saved.’ cf. 2:37-38

  35. We are not saved because we deserve it. Luke 17:7-10 And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’? 8 But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’? 9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not. 10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’”

  36. Submit to God’s righteousness. Romans 10:1-3 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

  37. God has done His part. Do your part tonight! Hear the Gospel. Romans 10:17 Believe it. John 8:24 Repent of sins. Luke 13:3 Confess Christ. Matthew 10:32-33 Be baptized in the name of Christ. Mark 16:16 Be faithful. Revelation 2:10
