How does Google create revenue? • Advertisers are increasingly turning to the Internet to market their products and services. • Google AdWords, auction-based advertising program, enables advertisers to deliver relevant ads targeted to search queries or web content to potential customers across Google sites and through the Google Network. • Google technology automatically matches ads to the content of the page on which they appear, and advertisers pay Google either when a user clicks on one of its ads or based on the number of times their ads appear on the Google Network. Majority of revenue comes from advertising.

How are the annual revenues earned today compared to when it started? • From day 1, Google’s main source of revenue has been through advertising. • The sagging economy is weighing on Google. • The rate of click-throughs on the sponsored ads that appear to the right of search results fell. • Economy is leading to declines in paid search In other words:  A not-so-happy holidays ahead for the online economy.

  4. Has the Google business model changed? • Google has changed from a simple search engine provider to being both a multi-national, multi-faceted company and a leader in research. • Core values such as service has not changed for the Google community.

Who deserves the credit for starting Google? • Larry Page and Sergey Brin, working out of a Stanford University dorm room, developed a new approach to online search that quickly spread to information seekers around the globe. Google is now widely recognized as the world's largest search engine -- a free service whose utility and ease of use have made it one of the world's best-known brands almost entirely through word of mouth from satisfied users.

  12. Why did I choose Google? • I enjoy the advertising and marketing aspect of companies. Google is a great example of a company that has succeed and rose to the top of the search engine solely through advertisements. Google was something new that created shockwaves for the Internet and now everything is trying to fall in line with Google.
