Multiple Meaning Words • Many words have more than one meaning. When readers come across such a word in a sentence, they have to decide which meaning best fits the sentence. • When you come to a multiple meaning word in a sentence, the other words in the sentence (the context), give clues about the definition.

Making Inferences • What does it mean? • Look at the illustration on page 55. Describe what you see in the picture to a buddy. • Its important to use the 3 part process. 1. Look at the picture for clues. 2. Read the text to find word clues. 3. Use what you already know from your own experience.
