  1. Google Takes Aim at Amazon Again - Marketplace Distri Google Announced that anyone can list their products free on its shopping site, reversing its previous policy of requiring sellers to buy an ad for products to appear and those free listing would appear on its search results. Google would take steps to bring more sellers and products onto its shopping site by waiving sales commissions and allowing retailers to use popular third-party payment and order management services like Shopify instead of the company’s own systems. Currently, commissions on Google Shopping range from a 5% to 15% cut depending on the products. Moreover, if people want to buy products online they directly search on amazon instead of searching on google. The people of US are turning first to amazon to find products that they want to purchase. In this way, a oppotunity has been given to amazon to build a rapidly growing advertising business, which is a threat to Google’s main financial engine. Amazon marketplace is becoming more successful as compare to google.

  2. In 2003, Google started Google Shipping Express to provide free same day delivery and tried delivering groceries. Google Express evolved into an online mall filled with top retailers such as Target and Best Buy. In 2017, Walmart was also added to its virtual mall, but the partnership was short-lived. Google ditched Google Express for Google Shopping and introduced a buy button to allow shoppers to use credit cards stored with the company to complete the transaction without leaving the search engine. Finally, in April Google announced that can list their products for free on its shopping sites and the listing woould be appear on its search results. By eliminating the cost of listing and selling products, Google want to increase the retailers to put products in front of the search engine’s enormous user base. Google want to prove that selling online is easy and inexpensive. On the other hand, amazon wants to prove that developing brands on amazon is much easier than Google.
