  1. Energy Star score updates are coming soon! As of August 26, 2018 you will be noticing some changes to your Energy Star scores. Every few years the EPA revamps their scoring algorithm in Energy Star's Portfolio Manager based on survey data from CBECS. This year brings another update and building scores are expected to drop a few points when the new system is implemented. This means if you are on or close to the 75 point threshold for Energy Star awards your building may end up dropping beneath it after the update occurs.. While this is bad news there is a bit of good news coming with it. All buildings that received Energy Star certification in 2017 will be eligible for 2018 re-certification after April 30, 2018. That means any building that earned a 2017 award will be able to submit their applications early thanks to this one-time rule change and avoid the score drop for 2018. This year it is essential to get started on your Energy Star applications as soon as possible so you can earn the optimal score. Please contact MEP today for Energy Star certification at (310) 782-1410.
