Vision Ownership • Leaders do not set the vision!! • Vision comes from God and God alone. • Paul & Ananias, Cornelius, Paul all received vision from God ( Acts 9, 10, 16) • Jesus sent to fulfill God’s Vision • Jn. 4:34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” CBDD @ GAR Convention

  4. What Courageous Leaders Do ? • Do The Right Thing : GOD-INSPIRED VISION • Do Things Right : GOD-LED PLAN • Do the Right Things Right : GOD-MOTIVATED ACTION • GOD’S PLANS ARE IMPLEMENTED IN GOD’S WAYS CBDD @ GAR Convention

Perilous Times 2 Tim 3 : 1-5 • But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. • People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, • boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, • ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, • treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than • lovers of God — having a form of godliness but denying its power.   8. WHY CHARACTER FIRST? • What specific challenges are you facing in your organisation today? • Poor Quality; Low Productivity; Stealing; Poor Attendance; Negligence; Own Agenda; Personal Problems ; Poor Customer Service ??? CBDD @ GAR Convention

  9. Tree and Fruits (Lk 6:43-45) • No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. • Each tree is recognised by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn-bushes, or grapes from briers. • The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and • the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. • For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. What is the Answer ??? • All Evidence of Character Failure • Training Programs , Rules and Regulations alone will not solve these problems • Organisationsmust be able to hire and retain employees whose actions are predictably right. • “I am convinced that 90% of failures in life are character failures, not ability failures” S.   12. What is Character ?? • The stable and distinctive qualities built into an individual’s life which determine his or her responses regardless of circumstances • Character = distinguishing mark = “BRAND” CBDD @ GAR Convention

How is Character Developed ? • Character is built into a person’s life by the decisions that are made on a moment-by-moment basis. • Character is encouraged by emphasising, requiring, and recognising rightattitudes, words, and actions. • Character is modelled by leadership CBDD @ GAR Convention

Promote Character First In Orgs ? • Commitment : Good Character = seed for fruit of long-lasting achievement • Example : ask forgiveness for failures; accountable • Standard : 49 principles infused into Policy and Procedure Manuals • Training : 1 character principle at a time in workplace • Decisions : hire, evaluate, promote based on character • Corrections : root problems; terminate for bad character CBDD @ GAR Convention
