About ACCA • Non-profit environmental organization that is dedicated to the conservation of caves and related resources across the nation and around the world. • Hidden River Cave Restoration Project-- ACCA worked to get new sewage treatment facilities built, helped stop illegal dumping of wastes into the cave • Cave Gates– protect endangered species • Bat Rehab Center– first bat rehab center in KY

Volunteer Work • Volunteer activities include: • Cemetery clean up • Mammoth Cave restoration • Hidden River Cave restoration • Work Hours (9AM-4PM) • Need good hiking boots (check Goodwill), rain gear, leather gloves, clothes suitable for layering. • Volunteers will be working outside for most of the week. • Mammoth Cave Historic Tour will be given on Sunday once you arrive!  * Activities will depend on what the coordinator finds more appropriate

  4. Trip Details • Located in Cave City, KY • ~380 miles. 6-hour drive • Sleeping arrangements are made at First Church of Nazerene. Shower arrangements made at YMCA • We will go grocery shopping when we arrive. A kitchen will be provide at the Church. • Leave UIC Sunday, March 23rd at 6AM. • Return to UIC Saturday, March 29th

What To Bring • Good hiking boots (check Goodwill), rain gear, leather gloves, clothes for layering • Old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or ruined • Sleeping bags, pillows, air mattresses • A positive attitude! You are there to VOLUNTEER. Please be professional and work hard. Represent ASB and UIC well.

Free Time/Fun Time Suggestions! • Mammoth Cave Adventures—zip lining, horseback riding along Mammoth Cave hills, 40 foot giant super swing, drop tower • Kentucky Action Park & Jesse James Riding Stable– alpine slide, zip line, Go Karts, 18-hole mini golf, riding stable • Crystal Onyx Cave • Trip to Nashville (Opryland Hotel Gardens, the Johnny Cash Museum, Printer’s Alley, Riverfront Park) • These are only some suggestions. Ideas are open for discussion. Good tip is to ask the locals!
