  1. Plane Selection in CMR In Memory of Bill Woodward Craig Broberg, MD Oregon Health and Science University

  2. RV apex RA LV LA mitral valve Start with Axial Spin Echo Stack Line up for Vertical Long Axis (VLA)

  3. mitral valve Note: Can be done as non-gated single-phase image (non-cine). Result: VLA LA LV Then Line up for short axis scout (SCOUT basal and mid)

  4. Result: Scout Basal Mid RV Aorta LV LV/mitral valve RV RV

  5. Scout (basal) VLA Aorta LA LV RV LV Through maximum diameter of LV Through apex Line up for left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT)

  6. Align through center of Aortic valve RV Aorta LV LA Note: plane should be perpendicular to LVOT LVOT Line up for Aortic Valve (AoV)

  7. AoV

  8. LA LV RV LV Center of mitral valve Max diameter of RV and LV VLA SCOUT (mid) Line up for Four Chamber (4Ch)

  9. 4 Ch RV LV RA LA

  10. RV LA LV RA LV LA First slice should align with valves VLA 4 Ch • Make sure both images are set at END Diastole Line up for Short Axis Stack (SA)

  11. SA (base to apex) basal mid LV apical RV

  12. MPA RPA LPA Axial Spin Echo Stack View planes above and below Line up for Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT)

  13. MPA RV Pulmonic valve RVOT Line up for Pulmonic Valve (PV)

  14. RV MPA PV Pulmonic valve

  15. Aorta MPA RPA Axial Spin Echo Stack Line up for Right Pulmonary Artery (RPA)

  17. Aorta MPA LPA Axial Spin Echo Stack Line up for Left Pulmonary Artery (LPA)

  18. LPA MPA LPA

  19. MPA RPA MPA LPA Try to align through center of both RPA and LPA, though may not be possible RPA LPA Line up for Pulmonary Arteries (PAs)

  20. PAs MPA Aorta RPA LPA

  21. Pulmonic valve (“out”) RV apex RV RVOT RA RV/Tricuspid Tricuspid valve (“in”) Try to avoid LVOT/AoV here 4Ch SA (basal) Line up for RV inflow-outflow (RV IN OUT)
